Welcome to my web site.

I've been a professional potter, since graduating from SUNY Brockport in 1974.  I
majored in Fine Art and minored in Art History.  The primary influence in choosing
this field was my older brother, John.  He had a pottery studio in Cross Plains,
Wisconsin.  He received his masters in Fine Art from the University of Wisconsin in
Madison.  He was voted one of the Wisconsin's top 25 artist in the mid 80's.  During
my last two summers in college and for almost a year after graduation, I
apprenticed with him.  Sadly he passed away in 1990.

Though I've worked in a number of mediums(low fired raku, salt fired and porcelain)
I've settled in on high fired stoneware.  I'm firing in a downdraft reduction kiln,
reaching temperatures of almost 2400*.  When the pieces come out, they are oven,
dishwasher and microwave safe.  There is no lead used.
I've always preferred making the pieces and have kept the glazing fairly simply,
using only four different glazes.  When firing a down draft reduction kiln, each firing
comes out a little bit different, depending upon how much reduction it receives.  So
the glaze or coloration will vary from firing to firing.

My main source of income is doing art and craft shows in the northeast.  Check my
schedule to see where I'll be this year.  I also do custom order work.
